Marvel Studios’ Next Big MCU Event Will Happen Avengers 5 (FKA Avengers: The Kang Dynasty), and we may now have a pretty good idea of when production should begin.
A previous report claimed filming was set to begin in December, but according to an insider Daniel Richtmanncameras won’t actually start rolling until January 2025 in the UK.
Despite the recent firing of Jonathan Majors, Kang is still expected to appear, even if we can’t see the character playing as big a role in the story. As we know it, Loki Writer Michael Waldron was hired to write a new draft of the script, but reports indicate that the events of Loki season 2 is still going to shed light on the main plot, meaning Kang would likely remain a supporting character (at the very least).
We learned that Marvel/Disney severed ties with the Majors almost immediately after the announcement of his guilt, which would obviously seem to suggest that they were waiting for the verdict before making their decision. However, some insiders believe the studio was never going to move forward with Majors as Kang, regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit.
Richtman believes a new actor will be announced in the role of the Conqueror in the “next few months.”
Marvel Studios is believed to have gone back to the drawing board when it comes to certain aspects of the main plot, which will reportedly focus on a smaller team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes than might be expected . Although the film will likely feature a few New characters, the Fantastic Four, are not expected to appear. The studio reportedly told the actors of the previous Avengers films to “free up their schedule”.
Today, Richtman says the overall story will be “more grounded,” although the film will still include multiversal elements.
We’re not sure what that would entail, but it’s possible that the film would primarily take place in a single location/timeline while also featuring variations of some heroes and villains. We’ve heard several rumors about which characters might end up being the center of attention, including Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and even Moon Knight and She-Hulk.

Avengers The Kang Dynasty 5 is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars to be continued on May 7, 2027.
